Jarod Bufe- Partner / Woodwind Repair Specialist

Jarod's interest in the mechanics of musical instruments began at an early age, when he decided as an adolescent that he was going to take apart his own tenor saxophone and put it back together for fun. Jarod's passion for music lead him to play throughout high school and in the jazz band at Northern Iowa University as a non-music major. After graduating from Northern Iowa with a BA in Humanities, Jarod went to study repair at Red Wing Technical College in Minnesota.

At Red Wing, Jarod not only gained the knowledge and skills to professionally repair musical instruments through extensive training, but he also found that he truly enjoyed it. After graduating from Red Wing, Jarod decided to move to Chicagoland to pursue playing jazz and repairing musical instruments. He found his ?rst repair technician job at one of the largest school music dealerships in the area, and after a very short one and a half years as a technician, he was promoted to manager of Chicagoland's largest repair shop. During his time as shop manager, Jarod learned many invaluable skills and life lessons through a diverse tapestry of experience.

After four years of managing the repair shop, Jarod decided to step aside, re-focus and regain personal time to grow musically and play professionally on a more frequent basis. He began building a private repair business. Over time many teachers and players found Jarod through his own business, JB Winds. They were very pleased with his professional, thorough results on their instruments and his client base grew consistently over a ?ve and half year period.

To date his clientele is an impressive who's who of professional woodwind players and music educators in Chicagoland. As a founding partner of BandSource, Jarod's commitment to always provide the same outstanding repair service to an aspiring student musician or a professional is what truly sets him aside from other repair technicians. Jarod's passion for working with musicians has made BandSource the Destination for Chicagoland's Woodwind Instrumentalist.
