Matt Johnson - Brasswind Repair Specialist

Matt grew up in a musical family. Both of his parents were professional musicians. He moved to Chicago at the age of eighteen to take advantage of the wealth of great brass players and teachers that the city had to offer. He attended University of Illinois at Chicagoʼs School of Music and had some wonderful playing experiences in and around the city.

Over time, Mattʼs interest in how instruments work, added to his natural mechanical ability, lead him to attend Badger State Repair as an apprentice for one year. After completing his apprenticeship, Matt accepted an offer as the lead brass technician at Chicagolandʼs largest repair shop and school music dealership.

Matt worked at that company for nearly a decade. During this time many of the best professional players heard about his skills and capability of producing some of the best repair results in the area and brought their instruments to him for repair and perform factory-perfect conversions. After many years of working in a large shop environment, he decided to join forces with two other partners who shared the same vision of excellence toward repair and overall customer service.

To this day, Mattʼs clientele consists of the most prominent brass musicians in the area. Not only do these musicians depend on him for thorough results on their own instruments, but they know that their students are provided with the same level of consistency and excellence.
